Sai Nuan Beach In Koh Tao, Thailand

by David & Intan

Sai Nuan Beach is a set of two scenic beaches in south west Koh Tao island.

This is one of the more secluded places in the island, and it’s never crowded at all, so it’s a great spot for hanging out on the beach under some lazy palms.

This travel guide will explain how to get there, and everything you need to know before you go!

Best Tours In Koh Tao

What To Do At Sai Nuan Beach

Sai Nuan is actually split into two separate beaches.

Both are nice and worth a visit! You can walk between them on a short trail through the palm trees, or you can swim or kayak between them in just a few minutes.

This area is a nice place for kayaking and snorkeling, and you could use it as a good base for paddling to other nearby spots like Jansom Bay, Tao Thong Bay, and June Juea Beach.

Sai Nuan Beach 1

The main beach is rocky on one side and sandy on the other. It’s lined with little restaurants and bungalows where you can stay.

Siam Cookies restaurant has good Thai food and cheap prices!

Sai Nuan Beach 2

This beach is the more scenic of the two in my opinion.

It’s a nice sandy bay lined with tall palm trees. Great place for chilling on the beach or taking some nice pictures!

Entrance Fees

  • Sai Nuan Beach 1: Free
  • Sai Nuan Beach 2: 100 Baht*

*The entrance to beach 2 has a sign saying there’s a 100 baht fee (~$3 USD) since it’s private property, but usually it seems there’s no staff around to collect it and you can go in free.

How To Get There

Sai Nuan is located on the south west end of Koh Tao island.

The road to the beach is well paved but very steep, so it can be a little tough on a scooter if you don’t get up speed.

Sai Nuan is just a 15 minute drive from the main pier and tourist areas at Sairee Beach, and many places will rent you a scooter for 150 Baht ($5 USD) to explore the island all day.

Even better, our hotel in south Koh Tao was close enough to drive there in just 5 minutes!

EXTRA: Chalok Viewpoint

On the way to Sai Nuan, there’s a small pull off in the palm trees where you can get a great view of Chalok Baan Kao Bay in the distance. If you have time it’s worthwhile!

Where We Stayed

We stayed at a hotel called Aukotan Place in south Koh Tao. The price was $23 USD for a big double room with cold A/C, hot shower, and good WiFi.

This hotel includes free buffet breakfast even though it’s not mentioned on Booking.com. They also give a free daily transfer to and from the pier, and Sairee Beach, which was super handy, and they have scooter rentals for a good price.

The location of the hotel was perfect. It’s a 15 minute walk from Freedom Beach, Shark Bay, and John Suwan Viewpoint.

Prices may fluctuate from time to time, so just keep an eye out for a good deal.
