Aling Aling Waterfall & Cliff Jumping In Bali

by David & Intan

The Aling Aling Waterfall is a great spot in Bali for adrenaline seekers and photographers alike.

It’s a green jungle ravine in Sambangan, with a giant twin waterfall and then 3 smaller waterfalls where you can enjoy cliff jumping, water slides, and natural pools.

Aling Aling is one of the best waterfalls in north Bali. This travel guide will explain how to get there, and everything you need to know before you go!

Where To Stay

What To Expect – Aling Aling Waterfalls

Aling Aling has 4 different waterfalls that are great for pictures, cliff jumping, and natural water slides.

If you plan to do cliff jumping, the staff will make you hire a guide and life jacket. I can’t really fault that rule because there have been some legit injuries here by people jumping in the wrong places.

Aling Aling is part of the Sambangan Secret Garden, a leafy natural area in north Bali that actually has 8 different waterfalls in total, along with canyoning and rice terraces.

I plan to cover all of the 8 Sambangan waterfalls in a future guide, but for now we’ll just go over the 4 waterfalls at Aling Aling.

The names of these are as follows:

  • Aling Aling Waterfall
  • Kroya Waterfall
  • Kembar Waterfall
  • Pucuk Waterfall

You can easily walk between each of these waterfalls, and they’re just a few minutes apart. There’s a sign at the entrance giving clear directions.

Read on for more info on each of the Aling Aling waterfalls!

1. Aling Aling Waterfall

This is the main waterfall at Aling Aling. It’s an epic twin waterfall with a height of about 35 meters (115 feet).

The pictures don’t do it justice. This is a big, tall waterfall and it puts out a ton of mist. Watch your electronics!

There’s no cliff jumping at this one (it’s too big and strong), although you could go for a swim in the pool if you’re feeling determined.

2. Kroya Waterfall

This one has a plank for jumping (5 meter jump), or you can go around to the top of the waterfall and slide down it. Great fun!

3. Kembar Waterfall

This is a big twin waterfall with a 10-15 meter cliff jump. Do if you dare! It’s higher than it looks in the photos.

Be extra careful with this one, because it’s a long drop and you want to land where the water is plenty deep. Your guide can point this out for you.

4. Pucuk Waterfall

This is the last of the four waterfalls, and it’s the most quiet. There’s no jumping at this one, but you can swim or take pictures.

Opening Hours

  • 8 AM – 5 PM

How To Get There

The Aling Aling waterfalls are located in north Bali, near Singaraja.

It’s a 2 to 2.5 hour drive from the touristy areas of south Bali, like Ubud, Canggu, or Kuta.

The best way to get there is to rent a scooter or hire a private car and driver (both of these can be booked online).

Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental

If you want to explore Bali in the comfort and safety of a private car with an English speaking driver, my top recommendation would be GetYourGuide.

Their price is 650k Rupiah ($45 USD) for a full day of driving and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. That's the total price for the whole car + driver + petrol! It's a great deal. They also offer affordable hotel transfers from the airport.

If you'd rather travel by motorbike, they have that too. Their scooter rentals start at 140k Rupiah (~$9) and include a helmet, rain coat, and free delivery in the south Bali area.

We've used GetYourGuide for lots of tours and activities around the world, and they're great! Highly recommended.
