Brunei Visa On Arrival (VOA) Info

by David & Intan

Planning a visit or transit stop in Brunei? Hopefully this post clears up any confusion on the immigration process.

56 countries have visa free access to Brunei. This is a 100% free visa stamp that doesn’t require any application or anything, just proceed directly to immigration and they will give you the stamp. Depending on your nationality, the length of stay allowed is 90, 30, or 14 days.

As of 2023, the list of countries with visa free access to Brunei is as follows.

90 Days:

  • All European Union citizens
  • Iceland
  • Liechtenstein
  • Norway
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

30 Days:

  • Laos
  • Malaysia
  • New Zealand
  • Oman
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Turkey
  • Ukraine
  • United Arab Emirates

14 Days:

  • Cambodia
  • Canada
  • Costa Rica
  • Hong Kong
  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Macau
  • Maldives
  • Myanmar
  • Peru
  • Philippines
  • Russia
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam

The following countries are not eligible for a free Brunei visa, but they can obtain a visa on arrival at Brunei International Airport:

  • Australia
  • Bahrain
  • China
  • Kuwait
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Taiwan

In either case, keep in mind that your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day of your arrival, with an empty page for the visa stamp.

For counting purposes, your day of arrival and day of departure each count as a full day toward your total. You can be fined or penalized for overstaying your visa in Brunei.

Countries not included in any of the lists above will need to apply for a visa before visiting Brunei.

Happy travels!
